i promise (to cut or not to cut)

i'm still having issues with my little fella and his hairstyle. if you don't remember my first post "to cut or not to cut?", you can read it here. like i said before, it's really just that i can't get him to sit still to give him a decent cut and though i have decided that i like his hair a little longer this is what i've come up with...

james taylor - long hair looks cool on him

garebear - not too far off from looking like a mini james taylor.

but, then as we were walking around the fair the other day i spotted this little guy and i made myself this promise...

i promise that i will never, ever let garebear's hair get this long. (even though this little boy has gorgeous red hair, you gotta draw the line somewhere)

to cut or not to cut?

garebear a few months ago with short hair

garebear now with long hair

so, the question is should i cut it or leave it longer? i've let it get this long out of fear. fear that he's going to throw a huge tantrum if i even try to get scissors next to his head. (he's been known to do that in the past) i dare not even take him to the hairstylist because he would probably end up attacking her/him. so, it's long and i think it looks cute, but it's hot and he has a lot of hair that sometimes makes him hot and miserable. what to do, what to do? you tell me, what a ya think, to cut or not to cut?

what they looked like a year ago today

yesterday when i was perusing through my pictures on our laptop, i came across photos from last easter, which just so happened to be on 4/4 last year. i can't believe how much my kiddo's have grown. their hair is longer or shorter, baby teeth have come in or been replaced by permanent teeth, they both are a little taller, and two shoe sizes bigger, one talks more than he did last year, and one can and is still learning to read. needless to say a lot can happen in a year. when you have little ones it seems that time goes by too fast. they're growing right before our eyes and sometimes we don't even realize it until your flipping through old photos on your computer. take a look...

a homemade birthday party

our little fella turned two today. our usual birthday routine is to head to disneyland and spend the day with our family. that was my intention for this day, but when i woke up i felt like just having a low key day enjoying our boy. we started the day off with a pancake breakfast from mickey d's, which according to my girl is his favorite restaurant. we then just took it easy and hung out in the backyard. it was fun and we were all enjoying ourselves, but then all of a sudden i felt like we needed to do more. so the little miss helped me prepare a homemade birthday party for the little fella. here's what she came up with...

first, make cupcakes

second, wrap your homemade gift

third, balloons make every party

they played while i blew up 25 balloons

and last but not least decorations

now it's time to party

unwrap the homemade gift

which happened to be his favorite present

and blow out your candles.
don't forget to make a wish!

happy birthday to our favorite little boy in the whole wide world.
we love you more than you'll ever know.
